In October 2023, MITIA volunteers visited the primary and secondary school run by the Sisters of the Congregation of Saint Paul of Chartres in Madiorano. The 340 current students come from villages located 4 to 6 km from the school. The journey often takes more than an hour, and it is impossible for them to return home for lunch. After observing that the children were eating outdoors, sitting on the ground or on a sidewalk, exposed to all sorts of weather and in unacceptable hygienic conditions, MITIA decided to remedy this situation.
Starting with the 2024-2025 school year, the school complex now has a canteen service for approximately 340 students, where they can eat a meal prepared on site in the best conditions of cleanliness and hygiene and in a sheltered area.
Total project cost €33,200 (including furniture €1,870).
