The aim was to purchase land in Beheloka and construct three new buildings for the private elementary school “Ranomasina” (‘sea’ in Malagasy), along with essential sanitation facilities and a well. The school complex was officially opened in October 2024.
Founded in September 2023 and officially recognized in November, “Ranomasina” offers primary education (years 11-7) and the final year of kindergarten (year 12). The school was the brainchild of a young -history and geography graduate who chose to stay in Beheloka to provide a better future for the local children. With his expertise and the support of six dedicated teachers, he has already enrolled 102 students. Currently, the school is housed in a small, 30-square-meter wooden structure, with classes separated by curtains and lacking basic supplies such as desks, pens, and books.
Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, all students have been able to enjoy a better learning environment thanks to the six new classrooms.
Total project cost:
- €2,200 for the well
- €23,200 for the construction of 6 classrooms, a teachers’ office, and sanitary facilities (including land purchase and fencing)
- €4,400 for furniture
